Over the summer George (from Seed Creative) and I got together to talk about some different topics we have run into as Video Creators.
One of those topics was “Working with clients with Limited budgets”. Everyone has different budgets, as well as different expectations understanding of price in time and expertise.

Apple Motion 5 FREE 10 Lesson class
In these 10 lessons learn the ins and outs using real world examples based on the televised broadcast graphics I create for my work as a Motion Graphics artist/Television Producer

Creating an intro for the Concerts on the square 2017
I’ve been at Wisconsin Public Television for almost a year now and as part of my duties here, I am responsible for Motion graphics, animation, and I’m also a producer for our grantors. This last June I was asked to refresh the open animation for the first Concerts on the Square. In this time-lapse you can see my creation process of the whole graphics package from open, title wipe, lower thirds, and credits.

Creating the intro for the UW Varsity Band show 2017
As a Motion Graphics artist / Grantor producer for Wisconsin Public Television, theres times I’m asked to create animations for different shows, or projects. In the past I got to work on the Eau Claire Jazz Fest 2016, and WI LIFE, and even helped develop the on screen graphics for Here & Now.
Back In April I got the chance to put together the opening graphics for the UW Varsity Band show. The video of my time-lapse work as well as some specifics is below

Free Introductory FCPX class
Final Cut Pro X is the choice for many editors the world over. In fact I personally believe its currently the fastest way to edit stories efficiently.
This is an introductory course in the basic functions of Apple Final Cut Pro X.
I’ve been a Broadcast professional since 2006, and been a technical trainer/college instructor since 2012. In that time I’ve been fortunate to across the country in different facilities, and worked with a lot of different people with different skill sets.
One thing that I’ve learned in that time is that everyone needs to start somewhere, and it can be hard to find the right information quickly and easily. While other training services require a monthly subscription to get started, or free online tutorials give disjointed information, I wanted to put together a class that gives everyone the basics, for free.
Free?
Really? What’s the catch?
Well I’ll be honest with you. The reason why I have this class out there is a few different reasons.
I believe everyone should know the basics. This class is aimed squarely at beginners.
A rising tide lifts all boats. When everyone knows the basics it gives people room to advance faster
It’s training I wish I had when I was learning video editing.
Its a preview of my teaching style. While earning the basics might be all you need, I’m confident that if you need to learn something quickly and efficiently, I can offer customized advanced training to you or your team.
The course and what you will learn:
This course is geared towards those who have never used Final Cut Pro X, those new to video editing, or moving to Final Cut Pro X from another editing suite.
This course is a preview of my professional training in Apple Final Cut Pro X and can be considered the bare minimum. It does NOT go into fine details of Final Cut Pro X and its feature set, but acts as a means to get people up and running as fast as possible.

Screen replacements for television Commercials PROCESS
Screen replacements using Mocha. I had actually finished these hours before I left for Thailand, however never posted my process on them.
I was given the raw 6k footage from a red Dragon via USB drive and tracked each of the screens using Boris Mocha. For a scene or two where we had a finger covering the image, I had to separately track that out.

What I learned from competing in the 2016 MKE 48 hour film project
This last weekend I competed in the 48 hour film Project for MKE. I was originally not intending to participate at all, because in the past it left me very frustrated and totally burnt out, however I had a talented friend approach me and we decided to give it a go with almost zero notice to assemble a team. Theres some things I learned from this years competition:
